I bought this set after a side-by-side comparison with numerous other sets, both LCD and plasma. This set stood out primarily for its "photo-like" HD picture. Because of the problems inherent in today's LCD sets, I would probably have gone with a plasma if our home circumstances allowed for dark-room viewing at all times. But with bright ambient light, the plasmas just couldn't be adjusted for enough brightness without degrading the overall picture quality.
Having moved from an LCOS rear-projection set, it didn't take long to notice increased motion blur in familiar fast-action material. Curiously, I discovered that the same movie on Blu-Ray was worse in this respect than on DVD. A little thought led to the suspicion that my cheapo HDMI cable wasn't keeping up with the 1080p signal. After obtaining a quality cable, the motion blur was reduced on my Blu-Ray movies to the same level as the DVDs. That said, someone still needs to find a better solution to this problem. I can enjoy the amazing picture on most material but occasionally am reminded that I'm watching technology that has not been perfected. As for off-axis viewing, I don't really consider this much of an issue. To sit sufficiently outside the viewing "sweet spot" to experience a problem with wash out, I'm already at such an angle I wouldn't enjoy the program anyway.
Overall, I am very happy with my choice. I believe this set represents very close to the state-of-the-art in LCD viewing at a price below sets with competing performance levels.

After a lot more viewing, I've been able to lay some of the blame for the motion blur I was complaining about earlier on the movies themselves. I've watched several newer Blu-Ray movies with a lot of action sequences as well as some others in my DVD collection and the blur problem is barely noticeable even when I'm looking for it. Another factor to consider is that each individual's threshold for sensing motion blur can be different.
The more I use this set, the more I like it.
If you're looking for a 52" flat-panel, definitely check this one out.
